Minister For The Interior Pledges Support For Civil Service

The Hon. Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery has assured the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Aggrey Darkoh of his continuous support for the improvement of the Civil Service.

According to him, the Civil Service is the bedrock of implementing Government’s policies and programmes for economic development in the country and proper and innovative measures should be put in place to enable the Service to stand the test of time and perform its functions efficiently and effectively.

The Minister was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the new Head of Civil Service in his office at the Ministry in Accra.

The Minister, who congratulated the Head of Service on his appointment urged him to try and put some measures in place to motivate civil servants so that they would continue to work well.

He commended the staff of the Ministry for their commitment, good work and support and expressed hope that they would continue to be dedicated to their work to enable the Ministry to achieve its mandate.

Dr. Aggrey Darkoh, who also met the staff and interacted with them urged them to keep the civil service spirit high and support him to improve the Service for the benefit of all.

He outlined his vision such as encouraging the establishment of a counselling unit, retooling, and enhancing the capacity of civil service staff, deepening collaborations with other state institutions as well as a digitalisation agenda, all aimed at making the Service innovative, attractive, good service delivery, time management and general improvement for the good of the country.
